Full-time official court reporter position

Hancock County Common Pleas Court is seeking a motivated and versatile Chief Official Court Reporter.  This position records verbatim testimony for civil, criminal and occasional domestic relations court proceedings, and preparing transcripts of the proceedings upon request or by order of the Court.  This position involves completing record-keeping forms, as well as maintaining and safeguarding records until their disposition according to the statutory requirements and Local Rule of Court. The Chief Court Reporter is also responsible for scheduling contract Reporters as directed by the Court and providing occasional coverage for the Judicial Assistant. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least four years of stenographic court reporting experience in the freelance field of service or in other courts, or a combination thereof; successful completion of the RPR, by the National Court Reporters Association.  Applicants should be capable of doing Realtime reporting.  Possess and provide all necessary personal equipment and software (e.g. Stenograph machine, computer equipment, and Realtime software).  Must also be a Notary or prepared to take the Notary test.  The candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills; maturity; responsibility; poise; tact; good judgment; initiative; ability to work harmoniously with others and effective oral and written communication skills.
