Supreme Court announces availability of technology grants

Update your court with the latest realtime technology!

Supreme Court of Ohio Announcement:

Technology Grant Funds Available

deadline to apply is February 1, 2017

The Supreme Court of Ohio is pleased to announce the continuation of the Technology Grant Fund. This fund supports local courts by providing financial resources to aid in the implementation of technology-based projects. Over the past two years, nearly $5 million in award money has been distributed to courts statewide. The Technology Grant Fund has aided in the completion of 218 projects in 72 of Ohio’s 88 counties. This year’s grant cycle will continue the tradition of funding much-needed technology improvements for courts throughout the state.

Numerous digital court recording and audio/video companies are seizing the opportunity of the Supreme Court’s announcement to solicit courts to upgrade their technology with these companies’ products.

Stenographic court reporters and captioners are technology and realtime is the only instantaneous speech-to-text method available for courts to utilize in their efficient and effective administration of justice.  Internet streaming, remote access, digital storage and permanent archival of steno notes and transcripts, and ADA compliant courtrooms are just a few factors that can be presented to your court as to why they should apply for funding through the grants available under the Ohio Courts Technology Initiative.

Grant applications may be submitted between Tuesday, January 3, 2017 and Wednesday, February 1, 2017. New to this year’s application process is a limit of one application per court containing up to two project proposal submissions for funding consideration. Funding priority will be given to projects that benefit courts in areas under fiscal distress.
